While the pandemic effect continues to take a toll, the spirit of Bayanihan on the other hand ignites stronger than ever.
At the forefront of building resilient communities in the new norm, Megaworld International continues to foster its corporate vision of uplifting lives, impacting society, and helping shape the nation. Inspired by the continued efforts of its corporate social responsibility, it gave birth to the idea of giving back hope and compassion to our fellow Filipinos who continue to battle in the midst of adversity.
Driven by the shared values, sense of community, and serving for a greater purpose, Megaworld International shared their blessings to others by putting up their own version of the famed community pantry with “Megaworld HEALS: Hope for Everyone with Altea’s Love Store”. Derived from one of the residential towers of Arcovia Palazzo situated within Arcovia City in Pasig City, Altea, means “One who heals; the one that takes care.”
The event took place at San Miguel Elementary School in Pasig City. With the support of its investors in Altea, Megaworld International was able to extend their love and care to the community to almost 200 families. The event also had its unique opportunity to bring together the support of its sales regions present in almost 60 countries and rally members from its different divisions in giving back to society during the distribution.
Taking inspiration from the story in the bible on the five loaves and two fish offering of the young boy, from the book of John 6:1-14, the Lord multiplied to feed a multitude of people, let us continue in sharing and doing what we can do for our community, truly, no gift is too small.
The event was graced with the virtual presence of Megaworld’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, who expressed her gratitude to all participants who showed love and care to the community.
Executive Vice President Ms. Maria Victoria Acosta in turn thanked the Office of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto for “helping Megaworld International realize a dream to reach out and ease the difficulties of families affected by the pandemic”
Through a video message, Mayor Vico thanked Megaworld International for the generosity of its donors and everyone who helped.
“The gifts meant that our recipients’ family would not go hungry for several weeks… You have certainly made a huge difference in their lives”, said Ms. Winnie Rayos-Dimanlig, Pasig Freedom of Information Unit Head.
Megaworld International longs to set the wheels in motion as it continues this effort in radiating kindness and smiles to Filipinos in need.
